Retail in Idaho Falls runs heaviest along East 17th Street, which leads out to the Grand Teton Mall, open since 1984, near 25th East. Most of the big-box stores sit along that same corridor and on 25th East.

Downtown is the other district, and it is a different trip: independent shops in older buildings on the east bank, a short walk from the River Walk and the falls, with the Idaho Falls Farmers' Market setting up there in season.

The stores here serve more than the city. Idaho Falls is the shopping and service center for eastern Idaho and for parts of western Wyoming and southern Montana, so weekends can be busy with people from out of town.
